A Retired Male Teacher: 3 Requirements for Remarriage, Otherwise Prefer to Stay Single

“Choosing a marriage is always wrong; a long-lasting marriage is just settling for less.”

“Choosing a marriage is always wrong; a long-lasting marriage is just settling for less.”

When it comes to love, maybe we all hold beautiful expectations, but not every relationship turns out as perfect as we imagine. In real life, many people have been hurt in love.

Recently, a reader backstage sent me a letter. In the letter, he wrote:

I am a retired male teacher. I had a failed marriage before due to various problems in life.

Our relationship couldn’t last, and after the divorce, I got custody of the children. Now that the children are grown up, I feel like my mission is accomplished.

However, as the children grow up and have their own lives, I do wish for someone to accompany me. Relatives and friends often introduce me to blind date partners.

But when it comes to relationships again, I feel anxious. If I remarry, I also hope the other person can meet these three conditions; otherwise, I’d rather stay single.

Has a Retirement Fund

Now that I am retired, life is decent. I also travel often. I hope my future partner will have a retirement fund.

The main reason is I don’t want us to burden our children financially. With retirement funds, we can manage daily life and take care of ourselves in times of need.

I hope my future partner can understand that I am just trying to ease the burden on my children and not cause them trouble.

I met a blind date partner through a friend who is similar in age and meets most of my criteria, except she doesn’t have a retirement fund.

I believe in looking at things from a long-term perspective. Due to this, I rejected her because of this reason. At our age, we should know how to take care of ourselves. If we can’t do that, how can we live well?

Understands Family Responsibilities

Shakespeare once said, “Hasty marriage seldom results in happiness.”

At this age, we no longer seek passionate love but value the simple happiness in life. As I age, my attachment to family grows. If the other person doesn’t understand the importance of family, the marriage will be torment.

Family happiness requires effort from both. Only when you understand family responsibilities will you feel more obligated to the family. Even as a late couple, I believe as long as two people are united, family life will be happy.

Home is where love is, not where reason lies. If we don’t care for each other’s feelings, the relationship won’t last. Everyone hopes for a lasting relationship. Achieving this brings happiness and luck.

Share Common Values

Socrates once said, “A good marriage brings happiness, a bad one makes you a philosopher.”

As we age, having someone you can talk to becomes the greatest joy. In youth, conflicts can be resolved, but as we age, having someone who understands your unspoken words becomes crucial.

Since my children are not always with me, having a companion who can communicate well is essential. If this cannot be achieved, I’d rather be alone.

I don’t want conflicts and arguments due to life issues when together. I wish for happiness and not hurting each other in the name of love.

After hearing these three requirements, everyone may have different views on marriage. Some may find these demands strict, but settling should not be an option. The person will be with you for a lifetime, and settling for the wrong person will only bring torment.

Some people prefer to stay single than marry someone they don’t like because they don’t want to settle. In today’s society, finding true love is not easy.

If you want to enjoy a lifetime with someone, be honest about your feelings. If you can’t sync with someone, your life together won’t be happy.

Everyone has the right to pursue love, so when facing relationships, we must be cautious.

Marrying just for the sake of it will lead to various troubles in the relationship in the end.
